5 Reasons for Not Traveling, And Why They’re Wrong – Guest Post

Uncategorized

People come up with all kinds of reasons for why they can’t travel right now, but may be able to do it later. The problem with that logic is that you can always come up with a reason not to do something, and often later doesn’t come. If you’re using one of the following excuses to put off your dream trip, then it’s time to reconsider.

1. It’s Too Expensive

The cost of travel is the most common excuse people make about why they can’t do it, but unless you need to fly first class and stay in 5-star resorts for your whole trip, travel really isn’t as expensive as you might think. Many domestic and international flights are available for under $500, and you can cut your travel costs considerably when you pay with reward points or frequent flyer miles.

It’s all a matter of priorities. How much money do you spend on unnecessary luxuries and nights out every month? A few months of frugal living could be all you need to take a vacation.

2. It’s Too Dangerous

Millions of people travel every year without being the victims of any sort of crime. Crime rates are declining in many cities across the United States and the rest of the world. It’s good to research the safety of any city before you go there, but odds are that traveling isn’t nearly as dangerous as you think it is.

3. No Travel Partners

The idea of traveling solo may be wild to you, but it’s actually a great way to see a new place. One of the most exciting parts about traveling is meeting people, so it’s not like you’re going to be alone on your trip. If you stay in a hostel or hang out in an area with other tourists, you’re likely to meet other travelers from all over. You can also look into traveling groups at your destination.

4. Too Much Work

Another reason that people use for not traveling is that they don’t think they should take the time off from work. It’s natural to feel that the only way you’re going to advance in your career is to work as much as possible, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Working too much negatively affects your performance. By taking time off to travel, you’ll end up feeling refreshed, which results in better productivity when you return to your job.

5. Don’t Know Where to Go

With all the options out there for destinations, it can be difficult to select a place. But don’t let paralysis by analysis prevent you from traveling. Look for deals and one may jump out at you. You can also hire a travel agent to plan your trip for you.

Traveling is a great experience for the mind, body and soul. Don’t let yourself get caught up in the reasons why you shouldn’t travel. Make it a goal and you’ll be able to take a trip sooner than you think.
