Guest Post: Tips For Taking Your Bike On Vacation

Uncategorized

Going on a vacation demands a lot of planning. We have to figure out what to bring and try our best to not forget anything. We usually try not to take too many things, but sometimes it can really pay off to do so.

Taking a bike for example is something that not too many people opt to do, but it can really improve your total vacation experience. It is not complicated at all, it mostly depends on the means of transportation you choose, but at the end it comes down to having the right equipment.

Benefits

If you are a fan of nature, sightseeing and traveling, there is nothing better than taking your bike with you. You can easily move around, park it wherever you want and go through terrains you could never even consider going through by a car. It is eco-friendly, cheap and it helps you maintain your shape even while you are on a holiday.

Rent it

If it represents a great problem for you to organize transport of your bike or bikes, that is if you travel with the entire family, you can rent a bike almost everywhere now. It has become very popular lately and it is pretty cheap. If you are, on the other hand, connected with your own bike, and you want to bring it with you, there are many ways in which you can do so.

Ship it

Call up one of many shipping companies from your region and ask them about the prices and the shipping time. You will probably need to send your bikes ahead, so they can come at desired destination at the same time as you do, in order to start biking around the same day you arrive.

Fly it

If you are going on a vacation somewhere far away, across the ocean, for example, there is an option of flying your bike with you, of course. The only problem with this is that it is expensive, but it is not as complicated as it seems at all. You only need to pack it correctly and pad it well.

By car

If you are traveling with your personal vehicle, there is nothing easier than bringing your bike on your vacation. All you need to do is to pack your things into the trunk and mount some bike racks on your car. They are incredibly practical and very easy to install. Once you get one of these, you can take your bike with you without a problem, wherever you go, even on short weekends away.

By train

If you are not travelling across the ocean and your destination is easily reached by railway, you should definitely consider taking a train. First of all, you are going to avoid airplane expenses, which can be incredibly high. On a train you have a couple of options which you can choose from: bike rack storage, carry-on baggage, checked baggage in a box and checked baggage outside of a box. Just make sure you make a reservation for your bike/s at the same time you reserve your train tickets. In this way you can simply come with your bike at time of boarding and take your bike with you as soon as you arrive to the desired destination.

First you have to decide on how you want to travel and everything else will follow suit. There is always a way to take your bike with you, wherever you go, so don’t worry and happy cycling!
